Synopsis

In August 1949, as the winds of liberation swept across China, Wu Shi (Yu He Wei), a high-ranking official, was unexpectedly appointed by Chiang Kai-shek as the Deputy Minister of National Defense of the National Government in Taiwan. Behind enemy lines, Wu Shi used his powerful position to secretly funnel intelligence to the Communist Party, risking everything for the new China.

At the same time, Zhu Feng (Wu Yue), a dedicated revolutionary, sacrificed her chance to reunite with her family in Shanghai to act as Wu Shi’s courier in Taiwan. Together, they transmitted vital intelligence, including troop movements on Kinmen Island and the mobilization of the national army in the Southwest Campaign.

Their bravery, however, came at a great cost. In February 1950, Wu Shi, Zhu Feng, Chen Baocang, Nie Xi, and others were betrayed, arrested, and executed in Ximachang, Taipei. Yet, the intelligence they delivered—including the Zhoushan troop deployment map—enabled the People’s Liberation Army to successfully liberate the Zhoushan Islands, making a lasting contribution to the cause of national liberation.

An Ye Shen Hai is not just a spy drama—it is a story of loyalty, sacrifice, and unsung heroes who gave their lives in the shadows so that a nation could rise in the light.
