Plot Synopsis

How do you find justice in a world where empathy has been erased?

Justice in the Dark is a gripping psychological crime thriller set in the dystopian Xinyuan Civilization Year 253, where society is on the brink of moral collapse. Rising crime rates and the emergence of a disturbing psychological phenomenon known as “zero-degree empathy” push law enforcement into uncharted territory. This condition renders individuals incapable of understanding or feeling emotion—making them perfect criminals and virtually impossible to predict.

The story begins with the seemingly routine murder of a deliveryman. But as Captain Luo Weizhao from the Special Investigation Unit’s Sixth Team peels back the layers, he uncovers a vast conspiracy tied to the mysterious Pei Organization. At the center of it all is Pei Su, a stoic and wealthy tech mogul whose links to both the victims and suspects grow harder to dismiss.

With each case, Luo finds himself drawn deeper into a chilling web of interconnected crimes, synthetic emotion, and a future where technology might just be deadlier than the human mind. But Pei Su is not just a name on a file—he is the key to unlocking the truth, and perhaps, the beginning of Luo Weizhao’s own descent into the abyss.

Main Cast & Characters

  • Zhang Xin Cheng as Pei Su
The enigmatic President of the Pei Organization. Brilliant, emotionally detached, and mysterious, Pei Su is both a suspect and a savior in the eyes of the law. Zhang Xin Cheng delivers a chillingly restrained performance that leaves you questioning Pei Su’s every move.
  • Kang Jia Ze as Young Pei Su
Portrays the early life of Pei Su, revealing glimpses of trauma and programming that shaped his emotionally distant persona.
  • Fu Xin Bo as Luo Weizhao
As the Captain of the Special Investigation Unit’s Sixth Team, Luo is methodical and haunted by his past. With each case, his pursuit of truth becomes more personal—and more dangerous.
